Automatically Logging IDTRH Data

The ID/TRH retains the last 20,000 + data points in non-volatile memory. This is over 2 months if samples are taken every 5 minutes. This data set is always available for download by telneting to the ID/TRH and using the maildump command.. All data will be emailed in comma delimited format. The data can then be imported into most spreadsheets.

Excel Trick: Divide the timestamp by 1440 (the number of minutes in a day). This will create a column which has exactly the Date/Time form that Excel is looking for. Then change the cell format to Date/Time. This greatly simplifies the task of creating a Date/Time x-axis for Temperature vs. Date/Time or RH vs. Date/Time graphs.

We also provide two free scripts which automate this process. Both scripts will use the 100 point log which is available from the ID/TRH web page to maintain a contiguous record of temperature and relative humidity.

Perl: Perl is a well known scripting language primarily used for cgi on linux and unix servers. It is particularly well suited for applications of this type.

Excel: Excel users can use web queries to perform the same function. Setup instructions are included in the zip file.
