This system provides a complete solution for tethered mouse sleep, seizure and awake EEG/EMG recording. The system has three biopotential channels - 2 EEG and 1 EMG. Prefabricated head implants ensure accurate electrode positioning and reliable, robust contacts every time. In addition, the headmount reduces surgery time to 20 minutes. Cable artifacts are eliminated by pre-amplification of the EEG and EMG waveforms at the animal's head. In addition, the company has developed a low torque swivel to reduce stress. Although the system was developed for sleep research, the 2 kHz sampling rate makes it ideal for many other areas of research.
The model 8206 does not require any additional acquisition cards or amplifiers. All data are transferred via a USB connection to a PC. The USB connection also provides power to the 8206 and preamplifier. All software, except for special function add-ons such as autoscoring detailed sleep analysis and detailed seizure analysis, is free and free updates are available from this site. It is possible to use the headmounts alone, or the headmount and preamplifier with existing amplification and acquisition systems. Please contact Pinnacle to discuss your requirements. A general analysis suite is provided with the 8206. The data are stored in standard EDF format, so they can be easily ported to other analysis software packages. Other analysis features such as power analysis, cluster analysis, peak finding, and autoscoring are available as add-on modules. Video acquisition and playback is also available.
