Pinnacle has developed a series of wireless potentiostats designed specifically for untethered in vivo use on rats. The 8128 is a one-channel system with 24 bit resolution. The 8104 is a two-channel system with 12 bit resolution.
Models 8128 and 8104 is designed to mount on the rat's head, while the Model 8145 and8105 are designed for use with a jacket on the rat's back or abdomen. The 8128 has a fixed gain and user-programmable constant bias. Gain and bias for the 8104 models are precision set at the factory, and can be configured to match the characteristics of a variety of sensors. The wireless communications link to the Pinnacle Acquisition Laboratory software is provided by the Model 8106 Basestation.

Wireless Potentiostat Movie
Following aseptic implantation of Pinnacle's glutamate biosensor and installation of the wireless potentiostat, the rats recover fully, and behavior is not visibly affected by the installed headpiece. Eating, drinking and grooming habits are unchanged.
