Pinnacle’s tethered 8400 EEG/EMG MOUSE SYSTEM provides researchers the ability to configure and record four channels of EEG, EMG and biosensor data simultaneously. The combined system creates an exciting and powerful tool to obtain changes in neurocompound concentration in the brains of freely moving mice during sleep, seizure, and behavioral studies.
The tethered system employs a HEAD MOUNTED PREAMPLIFIER (#8406) that amplifies and filters biopotential signals and applies a bias across biosensors. Signals are then passed through the low torque MOUSE COMMUTATOR (#8408) to the 8401 Data Conditioning and Acquisition System (DCAS) for final stage conditioning and filtering. The 8401 DCAS interfaces with Pinnacle’s free acquisition software on a Windows based PC via USB.
The flexibility of the 8400 system allows user to change channel configurations by the simple swapping of preamplifiers (i.e. 2EEG/1EMG/1Biosensor for 1 EEG/1EMG/2Biosensors). Standard configurations are available for purchase (see below).

Stereotaxically placed guide cannulas allow for insertion of biosensor(s) post-surgery. Pinnacle provides pre-fabricated head-mounts and recording electrodes for fast reproducible surgeries.
Headmounted 100X preamplifiers are the key to quality artifact-free data and house connections dock(s) for biosensor(s). Connections are made via friction fitting pins.
Low-torque commutators allow for unencumbered freedom of movement.
The 8401 DCAS performs secondary amplification filtering & conditioning; interfacing with a PC via USB.
An optimal, SYNCHRONIZED VIDEO SYSTEM is available to enable simultaneous correlation of behavioral and biosensor recordings.
Pinnacle’s SIRENIA™ acquisition & review software is FREE of charge. Advanced comprehensive analysis packages will be available for purchase in the future. Data can be exported as .EDF format.
